Lonesome Blue

Blue Sharks only come together briefly in mating season, congregating on continental shelves during the summer. Females have developed skin three times thicker than males. This adaptation gives female Blue Sharks better chances to survive the male bites during the mating ritual. Pair bonding does not occur and after mating individuals separate.
