Hope

Scientists estimate that shark populations worldwide have been decimated by 90% due to human activities. Several shark species take over 10 years or more to achieve sexual maturity, meaning it takes them a significant amount of time to reach the point of creating a new generation. If we don't allow them the necessary time and space to reproduce, very soon, there will be no more sharks in our oceans. The sighting of this massive female Tiger Shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) with a round distended belly, indicating pregnancy, serves as a sign of hope for this species.
